How to apply for a Trade Mark

Guidelines for Applying for a Trade Mark.

Applicants/agents may obtain a copy of the Trade Mark Application Form (TM No. 2) and Authorization of Agent Form (TM No. 1) either at the Intellectual Property Office or print a copy from the Trade Mark Forms section on the Intellectual Property Office website (www.ipo.gov.tt). Note that all forms must be printed on letter size paper.

Applicants are advised to contact a Trade Mark Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office in order to determine the relevant class or classes of goods and/or services that their application should be filed in. The application form must be completed and submitted to the Intellectual Property Office, 3rd Floor, Capital Plaza, 11-13 Frederick Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad together with the prescribed application fee.

The application fee is determined by the number of class(es) in which the application is being filed. It is calculated as follows: $1,400.00 for the first class and $150.00 for each additional class.

In addition to visiting the office, applicants can file your trademark application using our online filing system namely, WIPO File. Please note a WIPO File Account is required to use our online filing system which you can request by sending an email to [email protected]. Please see the video below for a tutorial on how file a trademark application using WIPO File.
